A Yarm schoolgirl has received a special award after her quick-thinking actions helped her injured mum who had fallen 65ft into dense woodland.
Lourdes Cunningham - known as Lulu - has received a Royal Humane Society certificate for her actions which proud mum Tracey Frost says "saved her life". The incident happened at Round Howe Wood at Hudswell, near Richmond, on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Lulu, now 12 but aged 11 at the time, was enjoying a walk with her mum Tracey and her seven-year-old autistic brother when disaster struck. Her mum lost her footing on the path and tumbled down the steep embankment causing injuries to her neck and spine.
