CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — The sentencing date for a Georgia mayor and ex-trooper convicted of vehicular homicide in a crash that killed two teenagers in Carroll County back in 2015 has been set.

Anthony "AJ" Scott will be sentenced in front of a Carroll County judge on Oct. 1. at 9 a.m.

Scott, the now-former mayor of Buchanan, who held the role until his conviction late last month, was found guilty on five of the six counts against him stemming from a crash that killed 17-year-old Kylie Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Chinchilla nearly a full decade ago.

The jury delivered the verdict on Aug. 27 after roughly two days of deliberations. Scott was convicted on the following counts:

Count 1: Serious injury by vehicle - Guilty

Count 2: Serious injury by vehicle - Guilty

Count 3: Homicide
