Saint George’s Greek Orthodox Church prepares for annual ‘big fat Greek golf tournament'

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Shreveport golfers will soon be shouting “Opa!” at a community fundraiser that mixes sport with Greek tradition.

Saint George’s Greek Orthodox Church on Creswell Drive is gearing up for its annual Big Fat Greek Golf Tournament, set for Saturday, September 20 at Querbes Park Golf Course , 3500 Beverly Place.

In addition to a round of golf, participants can look forward to authentic Greek delicacies such as gyros, pastries, and perhaps even a sip of ouzo to take the edge off a tough putt.

Organizers say the tournament is not only a festive gathering, but also a vital fundraiser.
