TEXARKANA, Texas - As part of Hunger Action Month, the East Texas Food Bank is honoring Texarkana area volunteers with Hunger Hero Awards.
“We are very blessed and thankful to have some of the long-term volunteers that we have doing this work, because without meals, it truly would be difficult to serve those in need throughout the area,” said Kim Morris, ETFB chief impact officer.
The Community Partner Hunger Hero Award was presented to two Cass County pastors: Kara Mitchell with Linden Methodist Church and Chad Mitchell with Hughes Springs Methodist church.
The Hunger Hero Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mark and Nadara Sperry with Westside Church of Christ.
The Texarkana pantry has been open since 1999. It provides about 3,500 pounds of food to the community each month.
