NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Humane Society of Louisiana has launched a 30-day campaign encouraging people to show compassion for animals in their daily lives.

The #BeKindtoAnimals30DayChallenge began Saturday, Sept. 6, and invites participants of all ages to pledge to perform at least one random act of kindness for an animal each day.

"Kindness to animals strengthens our communities, protects the most vulnerable among us, and creates a culture of compassion that benefits everyone," said Andrea Sony, a community outreach ambassador for the Humane Society of Louisiana.

The acts of kindness can include providing fresh water for a stray animal, donating supplies to a local shelter, fostering an animal or sharing information about humane care. Participants are encouraged to share their acts on so
