LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Local organizations are joining forces to raise awareness about mental health on World Suicide Prevention Day.

The Laredo Public Health Department is partnering with 550 Pizzeria for the “Dough for Hope” event, which will take place on Wednesday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the restaurant. The event aims to provide mental health resources and promote wellness in a supportive setting. Informational materials and services will be available throughout the day.

In a separate effort, the Area Health and Education Center has teamed up with Quickie Bakery to offer “Suicide Awareness Conchas.” The sweet bread, priced at $2, will be available all day, with proceeds going toward suicide prevention resources in the community.
