WEBB COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) - With election season still a few months away, Joaquin Rodriguez has become the first official candidate for judge of the 111th District Court in Webb County.

Rodriguez, currently serving as the first assistant city attorney for Laredo, brings years of experience handling criminal cases, including those that may involve the death penalty or multi-million-dollar claims.

“I am the first one, and I am not concerned with anyone else who is running in my race,” Rodriguez said. “I am going to introduce myself to all the people here in the county, and after I introduce myself, they are going to know who the right person is for the job.”

Rodriguez said he plans to maintain the integrity of the court by making decisions based on the law rather than politics.
