NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department was injured during an altercation with a hit-and-run suspect on Wednesday morning.

The officer was monitoring the school zone in front of Una Elementary School as part of the School Safety Initiative when parents alerted her to a crash in the vicinity.

Less than a mile away, near the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Ransom Place, witnesses reported that a large truck hit a car and drove off.

Multiple vehicles were seen with damage at the intersection.

Nashville PD reported that the officer observed a man matching the description of the hit-and-run suspect and attempted to detain him. During which, the man resisted and “struck her.”
