PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It’s been 24 years since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

People across the country, including right here in Southern New England, will gather to honor and remember those who lost their lives that day.

Here’s a list of local events:

8:30 a.m. — Gov. Dan McKee will deliver remarks at the Rhode Island State Police Headquarters in North Scituate to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and the members of our military who have sacrificed their lives.

9 a.m. — Members of the American Legion, Marine Corps League and other groups will gather at the columbarium at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. The annual event will feature the raising of the nearby flags to half-staff, as well as the citing of those Rhode Islanders who were lost on
