PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Providence man that had been out on parole from a 2007 murder case is back behind bars after a monthslong narcotics investigation spanning two states.
Providence police Col. Oscar Perez said the department's Intelligence and Organized Crime Bureau arrested David Mello, 38, and Juricco Castillo, 37 following a traffic stop on 95 North last Wednesday.
"Great arrest," Perez said. "We seized over two kilo[grams] of cocaine."
Mello was granted parole nearly two years ago after pleading guilty for his role in the 2007 shooting death of 20-year-old Marc Quintal in Providence.
In the drug case, a police report shows detectives obtained search warrants for both Mello and Castillo, an apartment in Providence, two vehicles, plus a bank account.
