OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management and itss contractor, UCOR, completed demolition of a contaminated structure at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Energy announced Tuesday.

Demolition of Building 3003 started in June and workers finished removing debris from the project in recent weeks. The removal cleared 10,000 square feet of space to help with future teardowns of other nearby buildings. Crews will have room to demolish Building 3002 and Building 3018, a 200-foot-tall stack. They are expected to be demolished in the coming years.
