Between June 2024 and May 2025, over three million daily passengers flew to, from, and within the US. That finding is from analyzing US Department of Transportation data of every airport pair with ten or more daily passengers. There were over 5,000 of them.
The figures include those who were local (or point-to-point) and those who connected to another flight anywhere in the country, whether at one or both ends of a route. For transit traffic, the top ten leading fortress hubs— where one carrier has between 72% and 88% of the flights —were obviously critical.
