The Washington County Fair — the oldest county fair in Texas — returns this week, bringing a mix of new attractions, longtime traditions, and a full slate of youth events and entertainment.
Fair Board President Ricky Bosse said organizers are optimistic about weather conditions this year and are looking forward to welcoming families back to the fairgrounds.
“We’re watching the forecast, and it looks like it won’t be too hot with humidity down,” Bosse said. “The rain should hold out, so we’re looking at pretty good weather for the fair.”
The 157th Washington County Fair began Friday afternoon with the Future Legends Youth Rodeo Finals at 4 p.m. at the rodeo arena.
That evening also marks the start of the barbecue cook-off, which will continue into Saturday. Results will be announced Sat
