DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglas County high school teacher and track and field coach who was arrested in May 2024 and charged with sexually assaulting a student pled guilty on Tuesday, according to court records.
Kerry Hood, 47, pled guilty to his charges in a Douglas County courtroom a little more than a year after he turned himself in after probable cause was established for his arrest.
Hood worked at Lithia Springs High School at the time of his arrest, and worked in the DeKalb County School system as a special education teacher from 2005 until 2013.
The former teacher was denied bond during his first appearance, with the judge stating that he was a danger to the public, adding that if released, he could have access to other minors.
