BELLEROSE, Queens (PIX11) --- The sex offender parolee sought for killing a Queens couple in their home Monday was indicted earlier this year for violating his parole, but he was never sent back to prison, according to law enforcement sources.
Jamel McGriff, 42, was supposed to show up at the NYPD Sex Offender Monitoring Unit every 90 days after he was convicted for sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman during a store robbery in Manhattan in 2005, according to police and sources.
The suspect was convicted in 2006 and spent 16 years in prison before he was released a couple of years ago.
McGriff showed up at the unit in April 2024 but skipped the July 2024 appearance. Authorities then discovered he moved to Creston Avenue in the Bronx without notifying them, which was a parole violatio
