FORDHAM HEIGHTS, The Bronx (PIX11) -- A 26-year-old man is dead after he was fatally punched in the Bronx on Monday, Aug. 25, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened around 2:10 a.m. in front of 2169 Grand Concourse.

Police say an unidentified individual punched the victim, later identified as Jahlil Jackson, in the face, causing him to fall and hit the pavement.

Jackson was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sept. 1. His death was deemed a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Investigations into the homicide are ongoing, and there are no suspects in custody, police say.
