Tatton Park has decided to close one of its main entrances following a number of incidents with deer.

A significant change in the behaviour of the red stags has been reported as poor grass growing conditions has left them competing for the acorns in the wooded areas close to the Knutsford gate.

There's also a much larger group of stags than usual - around 25 - which us double the usual number.

Despite warnings and signage in the park, visitors are still getting too close to the deer and park bosses have confirmed they have 'unfortunately had a couple of injuries'.

From today, September 10, they have made the decision to temporarily close the entrance to vehicles and pedestrians.
