MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Just before midnight on April 26, three Myrtle Beach police officers walked into a popular restaurant in the city's iconic beachfront district.

Within five minutes, they found themselves at the center of a chaotic scene as a Bennettsville teenager lay dying on the sidewalk -- a bullet from one of their service weapons lodged in his back, a newly released South Carolina Enforcement Division report says.

Jerrius Davis, 18, pulled a Taurus G2C .40-caliber Glock from his waistband in front of Mr. Fries on 914 N. Ocean Blvd. at 11:49 p.m., discharging it into a large crowd. Some were in the city on spring break.

One teenager was trying to charge her cellphone inside a pizza restaurant.
