ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) is actively responding to fires caused by recent lightning activity, forest officials said.

DFPA authorities said that, on Sept. 8, 280 lightning strikes were recorded, resulting in ten confirmed fires. Six of these fires, including the Boswell Fire in Yoncalla and the Little Camp Fire near Elkton, are now in patrol status. Meanwhile, firefighters continue mop-up efforts on the remaining four fires, such as the Rainy Peak Fire near Elkton. These fires currently pose no threat to homes or structures. Scattered thunderstorms with a 4-11% chance of lightning are forecasted until Thursday.

According to DFPA, open fires, warming fires, debris burning, and the use of burn barrels remain restricted during fire season. Residents
