PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) —KIDZ N' GRIEF is celebrating 25 years and is now offering the Bon Secours-created program to the Portsmouth community, bringing continuous support for children, teens and their families as they process feelings of sadness after loss.

Experiencing grief is inevitable, but no one should have to brave it alone. Bon Secours is putting special attention on helping kids in Portsmouth heal through KIDZ N' GRIEF, after identifying a great need.

"One in 12 children in Virginia will be grieved by the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18, and that number more than doubles by the age of 25," said Ariane Walter, Bon Secours Hampton Roads bereavement and volunteer coordinator. "And that's also not including grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, cousins."
