GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - State lawmakers are calling on Governor Tony Evers to stop the shutdown of two homes for homeless veterans in Green Bay and in Chippewa Falls.
In a letter to the governor, a group of Republican lawmakers says the governor has the ability to keep them open with money already available.
They say there’s already money to keep them open from the administration of loans and aid appropriation, but the administration is sending that money back to the treasury unspent.
They also say the governor could release unspent COVID-19 funds to make it happen.
State Senator Eric Wimberger was part of that letter.
He says that appropriated money has been used to fund these veteran programs before.
