JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau County families joined the Missouri Governor on Wednesday morning as he signed legislation they inspired—strengthening the office of county coroner.

It’s been nearly two years since the families began speaking out about Cape County’s former coroner.

On September 10, they joined Governor Mike Kehoe in his office as he signed Missouri’s new Coroner Standards Law.

Cape Girardeau Republican John Voss championed the measure and wanted to make sure the families who inspired it are recognized for what they did.

“I thought it would be a nice gesture to ask the governor to help sign this in front of them, just as a moment they can hang on their wall and realize how impactful an ordinary citizen can be,” Voss said.
