Minneapolis is awarding more than $753,000 in rent subsidies to eight local artists and creative entrepreneurs who will fill vacant retail spaces across the city.

Mayor Jacob Frey and other city officials gathered Wednesday morning to announce the latest cohort of the city's Vibrant Storefronts initiative. Now in its second year, the program is expanding to downtown Minneapolis and the Uptown area.

These are the eight 2025 awardees: • Evergreen Audio (300 First Ave. North) – The group will offer public "access to professional-grade audio creative tools and performance spaces and recording studios through free or low-cost events." • Modern Day Me (401 First Ave. North) – The creative agency is expanding its existing programming, "using the space to bring people together through creati
