The life of Lyall Murdoch, co-founder of the Frantic Follies, was celebrated at the Old Fire Hall in Whitehorse.

The event held Saturday, Sept. 6 was MC’d by his children, Greg and Nicole. In a reflection of Lyall, they roasted him in a Vaudevillian manner.

The Frantic Follies had a run of 47 years from 1970 to 2016.

Scott Lyle, a close friend for many years and a past member of the cast, remembered him afterwards: “He was like a father figure because he took care of everyone, he cared for everybody.”

Many youth over the years aspiring to the stage got an opportunity through the Frantic Follies to learn their craft and many carried on in the entertainment world afterwards, making it their life.

Lyall and his brother Jim co-founded the Follies. Jim died in 1980.
