Health and Justice Minister Tracy-Anne McPhee won’t seek re-election in the upcoming territorial elections that have yet to be called, according to a press release by the Yukon Liberal Party.
The party announced McPhee’s decision not to run again Sept. 10.
McPhee is the last of the governing Liberal cabinet ministers to publicly announce they won't take another go for elected office. The other six ministers have already announced they are opting out from running again.
Jeremy Harper, the MLA for Mayo-Tatchun and speaker of the legislature, is the only sitting Liberal MLA who will go for re-election.
The party’s release honours McPhee as a “fierce and tireless advocate for Yukoners,” citing her background as a senior legal counsel and educator for informing her work in elected office.
