ENFIELD, Conn —

A development project could help revitalize the Enfield Square Mall as developers look to repurpose it.

After years of maintenance problems, increasing vacancies and lower foot traffic through the mall, the owner is ready to sell and the town of Enfield seems ready to move forward with a redevelopment plan.

"Enfield Square Mall was built in 1971,” said Aaron Marcavitch, the town director of economic development. “It’s been more than 50 years since it’s been in the community.”

The mall has meant a lot to the Enfield community, but with its age showing and almost all its tenants gone, it is not what it once was in its heyday.
