MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — To help excited friends, donors and advocates of the United Way, a luncheon celebration was held at Dorsey's Knob on Wednesday to kick off its yearly campaign.

This year, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties has a campaign goal of $1.2 million to give back into its community through its partnering agencies.

So far, 21% of the goal has been obtained as local community partners have already started fundraising for the campaign, bringing in more than $250,000.

Director of Development Jenna Russell said that this year's theme is "local community impact" to help remind the public that funds raised go back into the community.
