The murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is a reprehensible act and yet another grim milestone in the degradation of America’s political culture. It should go without saying that violence can never be considered an appropriate response to political disagreement, even the strongest, but it no longer does. And that points to a dangerous polarization that in some minds — an increasing number — has become irresolvable, except through open conflict.
