A great many religions carry the idea that one day time as we know it will end.
The Christian cosmology tends to reflect the idea that Christ will return, the living and dead will be judged, the world will cease and God shall be absolutely triumphant over all evil. While the ideas of judgement day and those consigned to hell are fearful concepts, most Christians would agree that the idea that goodness shall ultimately prevail is a pleasant concept.
In sharp contrast with this positive sounding eschatology, we might consider the mythological world of the ancient Norse religions.
In their world, there was a creation, but eventually there will be a violent conflict called Ragnarök when not only is the world is destroyed, but also all living beings and the gods themselves are slain. In this
