LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Several students at Ludlow High School were stung by bees after inadvertently disturbing a nest during a fire alarm evacuation on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred when students were exiting the building in response to a fire alarm and unknowingly walked over a bee's nest.

The bees, likely agitated by the disturbance, stung several students, prompting immediate medical attention.

Ludlow High School Principal Lisa Nemeth confirmed that the school's nursing staff and local EMTs treated the affected students before they returned to class.

Natasha Wright, an entomologist at Braman Termite & Pest Elimination, explained that wasps and bumble bees often nest underground, with wasps being particularly aggressive during this time of year.
