ATLANTA (WSAV) — Georgia's state buildings will be lowered to half-staff to honor Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and influencer who was shot and killed Wednesday, until sunset on Sunday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced.
"In honor of Charlie Kirk’s impactful life, I am lowering the flags of the United States and Georgia to half-staff on state buildings and grounds from now until sunset on Sunday," Kemp said on social media Wednesday night. "Please join Marty, the girls, and me in praying for his family and for the healing of our nation."
President Donald Trump ordered all American flags throughout the U.S. to be lowered to half-mast just a few hours prior to Kemp's announcement.
The fatal shooting of Kirk drew strong reaction from Georgia leaders.
