(WKBN) -- Multiple local leaders have sent condolences and spoken out against political violence after conservative influencer and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University.
A single shot was fired at 12:20 p.m., hitting and killing Kirk just after he was asked a question about mass shootings. Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason confirmed it was a targeted attack.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff in all public buildings and grounds throughout the states until Sept. 14, in accordance with President Donald Trump.
