BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Severe drought conditions continue to impact parts of the state, and abnormally dry areas are expected to expand. Tonight, skies will clear, and overnight lows will drop into the 60s.

Plan for another hot afternoon on Thursday with highs nearing 90º. Forecast models still suggest a very slight chance of an isolated shower drifting in from the north Thursday night. While it’s not guaranteed, we’re keeping a 20 percent chance of a late shower in the forecast. A few more showers are possible on Friday, so it’s a good idea to have an umbrella on hand just in case. Otherwise, expect mostly dry conditions.
