2024 Ocean League girls tennis runner-up Orcutt Academy has nearly all of its players back from last year.

The reigning Ocean League champ, Pioneer Valley, was hit hard by graduation.

That showed Tuesday. Orcutt Academy swept Pioneer Valley 9-0 in a non-league match at Hancock College. The Spartans moved to 3-4. The Panthers are 0-3.

"We think we can compete with anyone in singles," Orcutt Academy coach Art Lopez said afterward. "We're a little more worried about doubles at this point against the top teams.

"But I'm pretty excited about my girls. They are rounding into form."

While Orcutt Academy has a raft of returners, "Just about all our girls were seniors last year," said Pioneer Valley coach Kristina Yoder. The Panthers won the 2024 Ocean League title with an unbeaten league camp
