PORTLAND, Oregon — The Trump administration announced it will cut federal funding for a program serving deaf and blind students in Oregon, citing Portland Public Schools' support for diversity, equity and inclusion programs as conflicting with current administration priorities.
The Oregon DeafBlind Project , which has helped more than 100 students over the past three years, received notice Friday that its federal funding will be terminated, according to program director Lisa McConachie.
"The DeafBlind Project is there to help them be in their schools, help school districts understand how to teach literacy, how to teach math, how to teach self-independent skills," McConachie said.
