WATERBURY, Conn. — After years of Waterbury neighbors dealing with flooded streets during heavy rainstorms, the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, or NVCOG, is taking steps to address outdated drainage systems and failing culverts across the region.

On Tuesday, NVCOG met with community members in Waterbury to provide updates on its feasibility study, which focuses on reducing flooding and improving road conditions in neighborhoods that residents said have been neglected for decades.

The preliminary designs presented by NVCOG included solutions for both drainage and pavement issues, with an emphasis on tailoring improvements to each community’s unique needs.
