MADISON (WKOW) — The City of Madison is set to transform several intersections on W. Dayton Street with vibrant asphalt art to enhance road safety. From September 15-19, staff and volunteers will paint curb extensions and median islands to help slow down traffic and improve safety for pedestrians and drivers alike.
Madison-based artist Bernie Witzack designed the art, with Chalk Riot leading the installation. Funded by the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All program, the project aims to make road users' movements more predictable without altering the vehicle travel lanes.
Residents should expect traffic disruptions as intersections at W. Dayton Street/N. Bedford Street and W. Dayton Street/Marion Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the installation period. The street wi
