Mystery surrounding the identity of a man found dead in bushland in Brisbane ‘s south has sparked a police investigation and a public appeal for help.

The unknown man, believed to be aged in his twenties, was found in the Toohey Forest by a member of the public about 1pm on August 7.

The Toohey Forest is a popular area for runners and hikers, with numerous well maintained walks.

Queensland Police said a post-mortem deemed the man’s death as not suspicious, however, they have been unable to identify him.

They are now appealing to the public for assistance, releasing CCTV footage of the man and calling families to check on loved ones.

The man is described as approximately 175cm to 190cm tall, slim build with a fair complexion, short brown red hair and a stubbled beard.
