Some Greensboro parents are raising concerns over the safety at new playground installed at Country Park.

The city replaced the playground equipment in the spring because the equipment was at the end of its useful life, Greensboro Parks and Recreation Director Phil Fleischmann said in an email.

The equipment was replaced at a cost to the city of nearly $129,751. The city received a $43,000 grant for the equipment.

Eddie Souther, 33, a Greensboro resident with children aged 8 and younger, is critical of the changes to the park.

Souther said the old playground set up provided younger children a place to play but that the new equipment is “just not suitable for kids anymore that are of smaller age.”
