EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Thursday marked 24 years since the deadly 9/11 attacks, and events around the CSRA aim to honor those who lost their lives.

In Columbia County, fire crews are hosting a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Plaza Parking Deck on Evans Towne Center Boulevard.

We the People: Barnwell community honors 9/11 victims with memorial

Ahead of the anniversary, one local woman is making sure none of the victims are forgotten with a flag memorial.

A remembrance ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. Thursday.

After the ceremony, firefighters will climb 55 flights of stairs to commemorate the 110 flights of stairs that were in the World Trade Center.

Anyone is welcome to participant in the stair climb.
