The smiling face of Helen C. Franklin looks out over the dining room of her grandson’s new restaurant, C’est Bon Kitchen & Libations.
Mrs. Franklin’s portrait is given pride of place in a display next to the restaurant’s front door, along with the well-used wooden cutting board on which she prepared ingredients for the meals she served to friends and neighbors from her home in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
One might not notice this display upon entering the restaurant — most people’s attention will be immediately drawn to the menu elaborately painted onto the wall behind the counter where orders are taken, or to the bar area where colorful cocktails are being prepared.
