PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence VA and Rhode Island FC are teaming up today to focus on preventing veteran suicides.

September is suicide awareness month, and to recognize it, RIFC players will sit down with veterans to hear their stories of service.

They’ll also be speaking with VA mental health professionals.

The goal of the event according to the VA is creating a stronger understanding between veterans and the community.
