GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A day of remembrance began and will end in an unbroken symphony of salutes on Thursday, Sept. 11 outside the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.
The Boy Scouts and Grand Rapids Fire Honor Guard gathered to honor the lives lost and impacted during the 9/11 terrorist attacks around 7:15 a.m. The U.S. flag, which became a symbol of strength and unity 24 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, was flown at half-mast in remembrance.
The “Scouts Salute” is an annual community day in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This is the 24th year of the event and one of several events across the state.
