BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they believe murdered another at a mobile home park Wednesday evening.

Deputies say Tyre Joe Atkins, 21, of St. Helena Island is wanted on the charge of murder.

This comes after they responded Wednesday around 4 p.m. to 60 Shanklin Road in Burton, which is Independence Mobile Home Park, for reports of shots fired.

When they got there, deputies found Ty Haskell Jenkins IV, 20, of St. Helena Island dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Investigators say they have determined that Atkins was the shooter and have obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Atkins is described as being 5’10”, weighing around 170 pounds and he is considered armed and dangerous.
