STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying an individual sought for questioning in connection with an alleged theft from a store in New Springville.

An unidentified individual entered a store at 2655 Richmond Ave. on Aug. 20 at about 6:40 p.m., according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

Sunglasses were allegedly shoplifted from the Sunglass Hut at the Staten Island Mall, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

The individual removed about $11,700 in merchandise from the store, placed it into a bag and left without paying, according to the NYPD statement.

The unidentified individual then fled on foot.

No injuries were reported.
