STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities allege that a 53-year-old FDNY fire inspector was driving under the influence of alcohol while off duty on Staten Island.

Officers allege they found an open bottle of beer in the front passenger seat when Akindiji Fadeyi was apprehended by police on Broad Street near Gordon Street at about 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 30.

The defendant was in the driver’s seat of a gray 2017 Subaru Forester that was idling in a bicycle lane at that location, according to the criminal complaint.
