TYLER, Texas — Tyler police officers are investigating after a 9-year-old girl with autism overdosed on a blood pressure medication.

According to the spokesperson Andy Erbaugh, the girl was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after she took the medication. Workers tried to stabilize her and prepare her for a Dallas hospital, but she died before they could do so.

Police confirmed the cause of death was an overdose.

According to police, she was with her grandmother at the time, and the blood pressure was prescribed to the grandma. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
