MARTINSBURG -- When Pop Pop Soda Shop set up at the Purple Iris Vendor Fair on March 1, it became the first business to sell a dirty soda in the Eastern Panhandle.
The idea for her food truck first sprang to the mind of Martinsburg resident Miriam Rodriguez a month beforehand on Feb. 15, at her son's 13th birthday party.
"We created a soda bar for fun. Watching how much joy it brought, sparked the idea of turning it into a real business," Rodriguez said. "From there, it grew into something bigger than I ever imagined."
At the time, the concept of a dirty soda had been fairly new to Rodriguez.
"Before my son’s birthday, I had actually watched 'The Secret Life of Mormon Wives,' and that’s where I first heard about the concept of dirty soda. I learned that places like Swig are a huge deal
