MONTGOMERY, Ala. —

Alabama State University is on lockdown Thursday morning because of a "terroristic threat" aimed at the campus, our NBC affiliate WSFA is reporting.

The university sent a statement to WSFA, stating that campus operations are shut down.

“We are working in close coordination with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to assess the situation and to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader ASU community,” a spokesperson for the university told WSFA. “The safety of our Hornet family is our highest priority.”
