WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A construction worker who was driving with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he crashed his truck, killing another man and injuring four others, was sentenced to 12 years in prison Thursday.

Alfonso Estrada-Salinas, 35, pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in the June 27, 2024, deadly drunken driving incident in Bellmead.

Judge Susan Kelly of Waco’s 54th State District Court accepted the plea bargain, which called for Estrada-Salinas to be sentenced to concurrent prison sentences of 12 years and 10 years. He must serve at least six years in prison before he can seek parole, and then he faces potential deportation.

Estrada-Salinas faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on the second-degree felony
